VF46 is a flat-pack dining chair developed during the Furniture Design Studio at DIS Copenhagen. Starting from the question of how a chair can be reduced for transport without losing presence, the project explores flat-pack construction as a design language rather than a compromise.
The chair is composed of four primary parts and six screws. Its waterfall seat gives the object its name, Vandfald in Danish, softening the transition between seat and front legs while creating a continuous visual gesture. Crossed structural members lock the frame in tension, allowing the chair to remain light, stable, and easily assembled. Referencing the honesty of Scandinavian utility furniture and the directness of industrial construction, VF46 turns a simple assembly system into a quiet, expressive everyday object.
