Modern automation has steadily removed many subtle micro-movements that were once embedded in everyday life. VitaStation responds to this decline as a furniture system that activates interstitial spaces, turning moments of waiting, pausing and transition into opportunities for physical and social engagement. Its adjustable steel surfaces and recycled-rubber contact points invite light stretching, shifting and support through tactile interaction. Rather than prescribing exercise, the system integrates movement into the working day to support attention, energy and cognitive vitality.



VitaStation emerged from a research project developed at Virginia Tech in collaboration with Steelcase Workspace Futures, exploring how furniture might encourage light stretching and micro-movements throughout the workplace. It was developed with James Tury during my final semester of my bachelor’s degree Virginia Tech.
